Two days KINO ASYL-power

August 1st/2nd- In a two-day workshop the team worked hard on the layout, program and trailers in smaller groups. The design-team thought about how to present this year’s festival, made drafts and worked on the final result. Therefore they didn’t only use computer programs, as you usually do – also walls, tape and beamer were called into action! What it looked like, you can see here. At the same time, the film-group was filming and performing for the trailer.

Some curators now already know which film they want to show. Therewith the base for further fastival-planning is laid and it is now possible to continue with finding ways to get the films and translating.

KINO ASYL magazine out now!

August 1st – Furthermore our KINO ASYL magazine was published amongst the curators as highlight of the day. You can find therein articles by some of our last years curatores, for example by Jamila and Abid, wo present the new magazine above.

The ones who now want to know what the curatores wrote about their KINO ASYL experience can contact Thomas Kupser ( and ask for a magazine or further information.

Interviews with and by the curators

July 6th – Today the first interviews for social media were filmed. Therein, the curators tell about cinemas and movie nights in their homecountries. Moreover, again pictures for the curators’ profiles were shooted.

Working hard on the profiles

May 9th – In a small group it was dealt intensively with the development of the profiles for the website. Profiletextes were written and the first pictures of the curators were made (in the picture above you can see Mahdi). While talking about what to write in the profiles, some not-expected talents came up!

KINO ASYL goes Rosenheim

April 28th – Today our curator Ayham brought KINO ASYL to Rosenheim for one night. Two afghan films (Bozkashi Boys und Snore) were shown there by Imraan, Taufiq und Aref.

Expectations, fears and much more

April 11th – Also today themes like group bonding and familarization were in the center of the meeting. The concept was explained again to keep the new ones up to date and to clarify missunderstandings. The curators revealed their hopes, expectations as well as their fears. Through interviewing each other the participants got to know each other better. One of the interview-themes was the motivation to be part of KINO ASYL. Lisa for example wants to show the story of her homecountry.

The first meeting

March 14th – At the first meeting the curators of the last years, the new curators and the supporting team got to know each other. Furthermore the project was explained. Many think that we produce our own film, so it is important to clarify the main idea of the festival – showing films from the curator’s homecountries. A really important aspect in the first meetings is collecting contact details and talking about ways of communication. As a great end of the day the whole team ate together the selfmade, delicious food.
